National News: In a tragic development, a 29-year-old woman sub-inspector with the Delhi Police was discovered dead at her residence in Rohini on Friday, July 25. Authorities believe it to be a case of suicide, though investigations are ongoing to confirm the circumstances.
The officer has been identified as Savita, a native of Chhara village in Haryana's Jhajjar district. She was recruited into the Delhi Police in 2021 and had been posted at Aman Vihar Police Station. Savita was living in a government residential flat in Sector-11, Rohini, at the time of her death.
According to police officials, they received an emergency call from the Rohini area reporting a suspected case of suicide. When officers arrived at the location, they discovered that Savita had been found hanging from a ceiling fan in her room. It was her brother who first noticed something unusual. After failing to get a response from her, he reportedly broke the metal grill (jaali) of the room’s window to gain entry. He then brought her down in an attempt to revive her, but it was too late.
The police have confirmed that no suicide note was recovered from the scene, adding to the mystery of what led to her tragic death. At present, the exact reasons behind her tragic decision remain unclear.

Officials stated that an investigation has been launched and that inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) are currently in progress. This section deals with cases where the cause of death is not immediately clear and requires further inquiry.
